VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. From supporting our administration team at our head offices in Kampala, to training, mentoring, training content development, research, supporting field operations,  fundraising and grant writing, there are many ways you can help contribute to our mission as a volunteer.

You can also contribute to our blogs and publications, help with designing programme marketing materials, or support with copy editing. Volunteer placements are available both in-country and virtually.

Contact our Administration team at info@umydf.org  or call +256 759 622348 / +256 701107670 to learn more about our volunteer policy and available volunteer opportunities or check our careers portal for published volunteer opportunities. Please note that sometimes volunteer opportunities are not published because they match with profiles of candidates already signed up in our Volunteer Talent Pool. In this case, we recruit directly from the pool.

Why volunteer with us

We strive to make sure you get as much out of volunteering as you put into it. That’s why we work hard to match your aims, goals, aspirations, personality, available time and everything else with opportunities that emerge in the organisation.

To make sure we’re doing our job, every year we ask the people who volunteer with us to tell us what it’s done for them. Every year, we’re delighted with the responses we get.

Better physical and mental health wellbeing, more confidence, gaining new skills, valuable work experience, making new friends, a sense of connection and community; these are just some of the things our volunteers say they get from giving their time.

Every individual has their own reason for volunteering and their own ideas about what it will do for them. There’s no right or wrong approach, it’s all about exploring the opportunities on offer and finding the one you know is right for you. The most important thing about volunteering is that you should enjoy it at your own terms and that it's a rewarding experience for you, as well as for the people you help.
